Review on πŸ”Œ Satechi Aluminum Type-C USB 3.0 3-in-1 Combo Hub: Enhanced Connectivity for MacBook Air, iPad Pro & More by Phil Anderson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Does its job and looks good. (REDACTED)

I would give it three stars, but the fact that it matches the finish of my MacBook earns it a style star. This particular one has a good mix of ports, but the SD card has to be inserted upside down (not that it's impractical) and the USB stick sticks out a bit (they barely go in). With long-term use, it gets warm but not hot. The light is nice, as is the overall look of the product, but there are some scratches. However, two things bother me. Anything I plug into the adapter won't be recognized by my laptop unless it's already plugged into a USB-C port. That means I have to unplug and plug it back in every time I plug something in, which is pretty annoying when you have multiple things connected. The second thing that sucks is that it kind of rocks. Since the plugin is dead, it just hangs on a flat surface like a desktop. Without moving the connector to the middle, I'm not sure there's much that can be done unless you buy it with a cord that also dangles. EDIT: The SD card slot stopped working after less than a year of no heavy use. It seems the more I use it, the less my laptop recognizes it, even though I use the same drives and SD cards every time. I need a new one, but I won't take this one again.

Cons
  • Has issues
