Better than today's Motorola radios for less money

I'm responsible for purchasing and maintaining walkie-talkies on my farm to liaise with managers. I've bought at least a dozen walkie talkies from four different models since I started 4 years ago and while I can't comment on durability yet they are better than anything Motorola currently offers. We used to use Motorola MT350R (4-5 stars) until they were discontinued sometime in 2018 and overall they were the best. None of our walkie-talkies have lasted this long due to field use, mud or iron filings getting stuck in the speaker, dropped or lost, but the MT350Rs have performed well enough. When they stopped making them I tried the Motorola T600 (3 stars). ), which should be an improvement on their IP67 water resistance rating. They're quieter than the 350s though, and you'll need to periodically open and close the charge port to equalize the pressure inside or they'll get even quieter. The audio quality when transmitting or receiving isn't as good either, and they have about twice the delay of the 350s between pressing the PTT button and actually starting to transmit (it feels like having to wait half a second to start talking to start). , or the other party misses the beginning of the transmission). When I got fed up with the 600s, I ordered four Motorola T402s (1-2 stars), although I wish I'd only ordered 2 to try them out. Their maximum volume when new is probably 50% louder than the old 350s, although as far as I can tell Motorola planned them as a direct replacement for the 350s. Volume aside I think they're fine (we usually use the 0.5w FRS bands 8-14 so the lower max power wasn't a problem for us, although objectively the 402 is less efficient than the 402). other Motorolas I've bought). But the volume alone makes it unusable for my purposes. Last year I bought two Midland X-Talker T51A (4 stars) and was quite happy with them. They are loud for their size and I think the battery life was ok. They have fewer features, as I don't think they put out more than 0.5 watts, and they only have a sound option for Roger's horn, which I personally like less than the Motorola default (although I'm used to it). ). They also don't have an IP rating for any degree of waterproofing and aren't backlit. My biggest complaint is probably that you can't change the volume without unlocking the radio, although that can be an advantage in some cases. I looked at the reviews of Revain this spring and decided to try these COTRE radios (4.5 stars) even though I had never heard of the brand because I had no other reasonable choice. I wasn't the main person who used them, but the person who was doesn't have a negative review. They have good volume and sound quality, are lightweight, IPX4 rated (splashproof), have good attachment points for cords or elastic cords, are cheaper than Motorola, and are easy to spot if you lose them. I would deduct half a star because you can't adjust the volume without unlocking the radio (although that could be a feature or a bug depending on individual needs) and they have a 1/4-1/2 second delay in reception have how the speakers work, so they cut off the beginning of other people's conversations, like some Motorolas. I'm also concerned that the antenna might break because it's encased in hard plastic rather than rubber. Don't know about durability yet as I've only had them for a month or two, but I'll be ordering four more.
