They are translucent and appear to tear easily at first glance. However, they are a lot stronger than they look and I haven't had a single crack yet. The rolls are perforated between each pack so you can easily see where to separate them. I'm always careful when tearing them because I've had other bags that tear easily when I do that. I love that these bags are biodegradable and don't harm the earth like regular plastic.
