I never realized that gel is basically waste as it can only disinfect or remove food residue, not both at the same time. Power is better but there is no desire to mess around with powder. I also got stuck with gel if I poured too much into our new GE Profile dishwasher. I wanted better cleaning and expected that in a new dishwasher, so after some research I switched to these Cascade Platinum Plus Promotional Packs. Wow what a difference. Now all our plates and bowls are clean, I still rinse things in the sink beforehand but I don't have to rub as much. Even our SS pots and pans shine (most of the time). A really nice surprise is that it also really cleans the copper bottom of my old Reverewear SS pans (25 years old when they were well made).
