Review on Pixio PX277P 27" FreeSync Esports Monitor - 2560X1440P, Adaptive Sync, Flicker-Free, Frameless Design, Swivel Adjustment, HD Display by Matthew Mack

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The 27-inch Pixio PX275h is an amazing monitor.

People have advised me to buy a 144Hz monitor and I'm glad I searched long and hard and didn't listen. I was looking for a monitor with 1440p resolution, amazingly vivid colors, over 75Hz, brightness and a great picture for entry level 1440p gaming. This monitor fully meets all of these requirements. The monitor requires some adjustments. Try the following: Brightness: 31 Contrast: 52 Gamma: 2.0 Color: Red: 47 Green: 46 Blue: 48 Response Time: Medium Saturation: 46 (sRGB) All other settings can be left at default but I enabled ( in monitor settings) HDR and Freesync With my current settings I will most likely not get more than 90-95 fps at max/ultra settings for the vast majority of games at 1440p, and to be honest I get 65-90 fps in almost all of mine Play with my gear. My games are almost all JRPGs. I'm currently playing Ni No Kuni 2, which looks stunning on this monitor. I had a 29" LG Ultrawide 75Hz monitor at 1080p and the colors were washed out and the letterboxes in the cutscenes were terribly distracting. With the 27" Pixio PX275h, the aspect ratio is PERFECT in all my games. With Ni No Kuni 2 this monitor is so bright and beautiful and oh my the colors are so vibrant. Gone are the days of gaming on 230-250 nits of a dim 75Hz ultra-wide LG display, squinting into darker scenes and staring at dull, faint, dull colors. These colors are so rich and the brightness of the screen is so bright that you may need SPF 100 sunscreen. One important thing to know, you CANNOT get HDR 10-bit color with this monitor using a DisplayPort cable . The DP port on the monitor is 1.2, not 1.4. I'm using a 8K Hi-Speed HDMI cable (48 Gbps, 8K, Dynamic HDR, eARC, (3 ft)) and Windows shows this as a 10-bit color HDR monitor. Another thing you need is to tweak the color profile/settings a bit. Once you either set it up yourself or find and download a good ICC profile, this monitor looks just as good as monitors twice the price. Out of the box, not so good. After downloading a nice ICC color profile (from Reddit) and adjusting the colors, WOW WOW WOW WOW it's so beautiful. If I have one comment, it's the stand. I'm not tall, and luckily that's a good thing given my height. Unfortunately I can't tilt it down (it ONLY tilts up). As a stand, it does its job well and, to be honest, is okay at the moment. I can always upgrade it and if they had to cut corners somewhere to get into this price range they donated to the right places. If like me you have a 2060/5600XT series graphics card and like to play your games at max/ultra settings, 95Hz will be as high as you can probably play most games. In almost every game I get 65-90 fps at this resolution/settings. All in all I highly recommend this monitor and am very happy to have it. I have now completed my gaming rig which I built using a beautiful 1440p monitor which was essential for gaming.
