The rubber bands deteriorated and broke during the 1st season of use.

This winter I used them as a mooring on a boat cover. I bought them last fall and some of them broke in half over the winter and the rest deteriorated and cracked. The rubber quality doesn't even suck on real rubber in my opinion. They should have lasted for several seasons of use, but they didn't even last for 1 season. They have not been overstretched or exposed to intense sunlight. See photos.
