Perfect tool for a very tight Mercruiser balancer

I purchased this tool after a powerful 3 jaw slide hammer failed to move a very tight balancer on my Mercruiser 350. I figured rust was to blame since it's so obvious on this engine. I was looking for a puller with a strong (i.e. not simple cast iron) plate and a thick, fine-pitch lead screw. This block also features a good thrust bearing for even less friction under load. The parts supplied fit a fairly generic Mercruiser/GMC perfectly, although I used my own three bolts to attach the rib plate to the balancer for maximum thread engagement. After I was done, I noticed three screws under the foam insert on the side of the plastic storage box's lid that would probably fit just fine. I carefully installed the puller onto the motor, sprayed some Kroil to lubricate the lead screw and immediately removed the pulley. No drama and decent but not over the top. Tighten the 1 1/2 foot wrench. Unlike the one-star reviewer who wanted a coarse lead screw to "quickly" remove the balancer, the fine pitch lever worked just fine for me. Without balancers, the mating surfaces looked shiny and nice, so I'm assuming the binding was just down to tolerances. At least now I have a very good tool to gently reinstall! The only issue, but not enough to deduct a star, is that the storage box is only for storing the parts that come with it. I just had to put my own screws in a random finger groove to hold them together with the set.
