This shoe is not for wide feet. If you buy 2E, you get 4E. If you need 4E, look elsewhere. I wear a size 12 4E and I have a hard time finding shoes that fit me and I like them. As usual I pulled the laces out to make them more comfortable and without the laces the shoes were too tight and my forefoot bit into it and pushed the material out. The heel counter was nice and solid but if I walked in it it would be a bit tight and probably wet my foot. If I need wide shoes, I choose New Balance. If they were selling 12.5 wide shoes I would try that, but most companies sell 12.5 wide shoes but not wide unless the shoes are all black or all white.
