I have well water without a softner and this shampoo lathered well. Usually hard water doesn't do that so I don't know why other reviewers had trouble with that. The scent I do not like. It smells like baby powder but it does fade away enough when my hair dried tho I could still smell a lingering scent but it was nice. I did not try the conditioner because after reading the reviews on these products I didn't want to chance it but I didn't need the conditioner anyway. My hair is very soft after washing and then repeating with the shampoo alone. If anyone is in doubt that they got the true original product.I would order from their website to see if there is a difference. I think I got the real deal but copy cats can happen.
