He is loved by birds and chipmunks.

If I could get thistle seeds from our local farm it would be cheaper. But since I can't reach any other stores right now, this is a good option. The quality seems to be good and finches, tits and cardinals like to eat it. Since some birds throw it out of the feeding trough, the chipmunks also get something.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

What the hell is that?!

Just received and opened today. Immediately I can smell the artificial cherry scent that stinks. Then I can't reseal the bag because the zipper is not attached to the bag. So I scooped the bird seed into a gallon sized bag and found this large resinous substance as shown in the photos. It's very sticky when I open it. I won't buy this again.

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Disappointing results.

I live in Southeast Texas. I thought I'd try this brand as it says zero waste and I noticed that with the other brand I used the birds were knocking huge amounts out of the feeder to get what they wanted. But the birds hardly touch this material. The bird feeders haven't fallen in the last 2 weeks and I don't see any birds at the bird feeders. I guess I should have stuck with what worked.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Clumps best in birds

At first I liked this birdseed. It has a strong cherry flavor and I love that it has big chunks of fruit in addition to the nuts and seeds. However, I noticed that the birds were starting to eat less. Then I noticed that it was sticking together and getting stuck in the feeders. I've attached a photo of what some of the larger pieces look like. Perhaps because of the summer heat, the fats in them stick together. I will not buy again.

Excellent product: Food

Clean seed for birds without waste. This is a favorite dish of many of my home beauties. I love feeding birds and have been a bird and nature lover all my life. I always sprinkle some around and under my feeders to enjoy the chipmunk cuties. I tolerate squirrels to attract other wildlife. I have to say though, squirrels are pretty interesting! As they say, this is a clean, zero-waste product.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Exchange possible

Not sure about fruit and nuts. The wild birds around my home in central Texas don't eat them - they just eat the seeds and leave larger chunks of fruits and nuts or drop them on the ground. Also, large chunks tend to clog the holes in my feeder to keep the seeds from falling out. Add moisture from recent rains and any seeds will begin to mold around the holes. Pooh.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Hard to say

contains artificial cherry flavor! which type?!?!

I love Katy and the birds love this delicious seed mix BUT I've noticed it contains "artificial cherry flavor". I wouldn't eat artificially flavored foods myself, so why would I feed them to my wild birds? This is NOT NATURAL. If the seed was that good enough, why did it need a flavor enhancer? I went through all the varieties of wild Kaytee seeds and found 2 that do not contain cherry flavor: 1. peanuts, 2. sunflower chips/hearts. Now I buy seeds from other brands that don't have additives and

favorite bird food!

Birds love this food very much! I've used several different brands before using this one and they usually empty the feeder in about 1-2 weeks. But with this food they pass it in 4-5 days. The only downside is the speed they eat, it's a lot more expensive. We have finches, cardinals, blue jays, starlings, pigeons and lovebirds that will eat anything that falls on the ground. The squirrels like it too and I drive them away every now and then. But that's always been the case. I bought 7 bags andโ€ฆ

Birds in my yard won't eat it

Last week I purchased this Zero Waste Kaytee Ultra Waste Free Nut and Fruit Mix and installed it in my yard for the first time. In the past, dozens of birds would fly to my feeders and eat every bite I gave, but NOT since I launched this ultra-waste-free nut and fruit mix. You won't even touch him. Even finches and sparrows won't eat it and I've had flocks feeding at my bird feeders before. I found it to have small, reddish-pink, artificial raspberry chunks that give off a strong artificialโ€ฆ
