Review on YoLink Wireless Compatible Detector Included by Chris Burks

I recently changed my insurance company. My previous carrier didn't limit coverage for plumbing leaks, but my new policy limits coverage to $10,000. Knowing how my friend's toilet burst while he was on vacation resulting in a loss of over $30,000, I looked for a leak detection system that would send me a message and set off an alarm if I detected a leak. stumbled across the YoLink line on Revain. I bought a hub and detector kit. The kit has arrived. I installed and tested it to my satisfaction. A few days later I bought another set because I needed more detectors. The only problem was that the YoLink app doesn't offer an option to "add behaviors", or at least I couldn't figure it out. (I submitted a support request.) However, I was able to set up notifications in the Alexa app. I was hoping to purchase an additional check valve that would respond to leak reports. While YoLink has such a product, it only works indoors where the plumbing enters the house. Our house in Florida doesn't have a basement, so I need a device that will automatically shut off the water on our sidewalk. When I asked YoLink, I was told that their electronic flood gates are not recommended for outdoor use. So bottom line: I still have to turn off the water at the curb when we leave the house for long periods of time. But if I'm in or near our home, I'll be alerted if there's a leak in the water supply. My only criticism is that the documentation is sparse and written in broken English. This is the only reason I didn't originally give a 5 star review. But when my support request is resolved I hope to change my rating from 4 to 5 stars. This company offers a fairly extensive range of home automation products. I'm considering trying other sensors and devices as all of the company's products are reasonably priced. (Disclosure: Although YoLink provides a free device for positive reviews, its advertising did not affect my review.) Update: January 20, 2020: I added one more star for a full five-star rating after experiencing excellent customer service from received YoLink. First, the "behaviour" comment is no longer an issue as YoLink offers the ability to respond to emails, messages, and voice alerts through Alexa. Second, my initial disappointment (not criticism, of course) that YoLink did not provide a device that would automatically control the valve outdoors was overcome by the company's introduction of a new product that works outdoors. What I particularly like about YoLink products is the extended range and ease of setup. YoLink devices are much easier to set up than competing products. And believe me, I've encountered a frustrating setup with many competing products.
