I went from a 40 gallon to a 55 gallon tank and decided to change the substrate. I did enough research on what I wanted and went for it. I added it to my new aquarium today and couldn't be happier. It really is a beautiful mix. It has many colors but has a clear color. I ended up buying what I needed because I wasn't sure how long it would last. My new tank is 30" x 12" and one bag is enough. I would advise against following the cleaning instructions on the bag. What I did was pour the substrate into a gallon bucket and then rinse it out. I spent probably 15 minutes rinsing it, continuing to pour water into the bucket, and then manually moving the substrate around until the water was relatively clear. There was still some haze when I put it in the tank, but it literally went away in less than two hours. I suspect this is 'for what it's worth' advice.
