One could say that in terms of processing quality, some compromises have been made compared to significantly more expensive devices from Garmin and Wahoo. Is it important? It depends on how serious you are and what your budget is. If you just want something simple to count your mileage, tell you your speed, this will do the trick. It will even tell you your cadence (cadence) and your heart rate. If you need cadence data, you need to buy a cadence sensor. (They are not overly expensive and extremely easy to install). The same with the heart rate. Typically, you need a Bluetooth (or ANT+) heart rate monitor attached to a chest strap. It doesn't interface with power meters as far as I can tell, but if you have a power meter on your bike you mean business and already have a Garmin bike computer or similar. But you don't need any of them. This is the case when you only want to know your speed, mileage and duration of your trip. The device out of the box can track everything for you via GPS. Install it on your steering wheel and it will act as a live speedometer, tracking your mileage. I tried this device out on my road bike, which is where my Gamine usually rides. The mount is exactly the same. Once I connected my sensors, this device behaved almost exactly like my Garmin when displaying data. I didn't download the app but grabbed the .fit file by connecting the device to my computer and then uploading the file to Strava from there. It worked, but using an app might be better. One of the few disappointments is the front brace, which is a little flimsy and wobbly. But they are ubiquitous on Revain; for about $12 you can get it in anodized aluminum or steel. In any case, the computer was a pleasant surprise. I wouldn't recommend anything cheaper than this device because I've tried a few really entry-level devices and been disappointed. It's the cheapest I've tried and has almost all the big boys' features, including customizable screens and an auto backlight. What you're sacrificing at a lower price is some build reliability and maybe less support. But support from companies like Garmin isn't known for being great, so who knows.
