I've got several pairs of long pants from this manufacturer and they are my go-to favorite on hikes or casual. I was hoping the shorts would be just as good and if so, would order several pairs and replace all my existing shorts. What a disappointment! I wear a 38 x 30 in the pants and they are a perfect fit, so I ordered a 38 waist in the shorts. They are way too big. I could easily wear a size 36, but it isn't just the waist that's too big, it's the length of the shorts and I doubt it would change in a 36". I like my shorts to hit in the middle of my knee cap. These shorts are at least 2" below the bottom of my knee. For a 60 year old I look like some older guy trying to look like a hip-hop teenager. So disappointed because the quality is top notch. Water beads up on this material and the long pants are amazing. I slipped on a hike and feel in some muddy wet dirt and jumped up really fast and couldn't believe the pants had no mud on them and were dry as a bone. My wife washed them when we got home and was laughing about me falling and saying how in the heck did these pants not get anything on them! Not a speck of mud, so you can imagine my disappointment that these shorts fit me so poorly. Having to return them and will be careful when ordering any other style if it doesn't say how long they are.
