Not actually a pumice stone - absorbs water and sinks. Real pumice floats.

I'm not the first to notice that this isn't real pumice, so I'm annoyed that it's advertised as such. We bought this specifically for a science project which means it was a waste of money for us. Personally, I would find real pumice more hygienic, since real pumice does not absorb water like this "lava stone". After we took it out of the water, it was heavier than when we put it in the water. Maybe we'll change the scope of our science project to weigh it before and after, and then check how long it takes to dry. ;-)
