Contrary to one of the best reviews of this product, this adapter's Realtek RTL9210 chipset is now supported by utilities like CrystalDiskInfo, which can provide SMART information as well as disk name, etc. (see photo). Just update to the latest version (v 8.9.0 at the time of writing 1/2021). I've also read a few complaints about the adapter not having real metal or other higher-quality materials than the competition, but these reviewers miss the point: other adapters in this price range ($20) just don't offer *both* NVMe AND SATA drives m.2. It's either one or the other. And honestly, if you're using this thing for drive testing or temporary storage, maximum compatibility is key. Otherwise, if you're planning on having a drive that's more durable as an external solution, then of course higher quality materials will be prioritized. I just needed a cheap m.2 adapter for both protocols in my toolbox that can read SMART. Information and easy disc swapping (download without tools!). This one fits the bill.
