Review on πŸ–€ Higgins Waterproof Black India Ink 1 oz: The Ultimate Ink for Precision and Permanence by Amanda Castillo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Large bottle, fine ink

If you have an Ackerman fountain pen (ackermanpens.com) this Higgins ink works very well in these pens. And while I prefer Speedball Speedball 2-Ounce India Ink, Super Black ink for its thickness and ability to hold fine lines, it doesn't flow in my Ackerman fountain pen. I added a star for the fact that Higgins ink works well in this pen. Also because I love diluted ink and can use this ink in this way. But I probably won't buy it again. What I don't like is that this ink is too runny and watery for clean, controlled lines. I wouldn't recommend it except for filling large areas with black or where blurred lines (sketches or blurred drawings) are more acceptable than fine details, thin lines, or subtle shading. I was excited to try these inks but they didn't live up to expectations. It is very wet, and although it is very black and very durable, even with a goose quill it is difficult to get a finer line than even a very fine fountain pen. Leaving the bottle open for a week didn't help. a lot, I was hoping this would make the ink thick enough to be used with steel tips, but that didn't happen. I also really like the shape of the bottle, it helps prevent accidental spills and it's small enough to pack and take with you. , it also has a dropper in the lid. I will abandon the bottle when I run out of ink and use it with another brand of ink.
