Review on Insect Lore Butterfly Garden Caterpillars: A Unique Learning & Education Experience by Robert Oner

Bought for my 4 year old who has an obsession with turning caterpillars into butterflies. When we received the set I noticed that 2 caterpillars were noticeably smaller than the other 3. It seems that within 48 hours the 2 smaller caterpillars were eaten by the larger ones (or did they just disappear?). The remaining three seemed to have a very difficult time attaching themselves to the top of the lid to begin the transformation. One eventually "latched" and landed in its pupa, which was then knocked down from above and mostly melted away by one of the two remaining caterpillars. There are 2 lanes left. Both were able to attach themselves to the top, and one created its own chrysalis, eventually morphing into a butterfly. The other just stayed in his J shape and never formed his doll and seems to be developing a shape? After reading the reviews and doing some research it seems my caterpillars had the core polyhedron virus(?) so they really didn't stand a chance. My daughter is very sad that only 1 survives, but she is studying the circle of life and now she knows that even if you do everything right, not everything survives. get 5. 🤷🏻‍♀️
