Some reviewers complained about the weight and thickness of this knife. Someone actually said it was an inch and a half thick. What a pot! The reality is that the Leatherman Free T4 is only 5/8 inch thick. Even when I measure the knife and clip, it's only 7/8" thick. My Swiss Army 4-ply Feldmeister is 1/16" thicker than the T4. It's too heavy for me to carry in my pocket to carry, as do my SAK Fieldmaster and Hunter models. Jeans, in a knife case, or in my purse. Free T4 is no different. That's why Leatherman has generously provided a durable clip for those who feel they need one.(looks like it's detachable.) preferred, or use a SAK pouch if you have one.The T4 weighs 1 ounce more than my SA Fieldmaster, but offers in exchange for the weight of just under 1 ounce the T4 has a very thick blade, a thicker large screwdriver for those who use it as a small pry bar, one-handed opening of each tool and each tool pops open This is more than enough to overcome any extra weight But wait! That's nic ht everything. The corkscrew, which no one in the US has ever used, has been left behind, as has the almost useless hook, and all the tools run parallel to the body to offer better handling and torque when needed. He has small tweezers, but unfortunately Leatherman doesn't have a toothpick. Very bad at it. I've used a toothpick for a few uses and I think there's room for that. Leatherman also dispensed with the can opener. It probably won't matter to city dwellers and suburbanites who have probably never used it, but backpackers and backpackers might miss it. Sewing awl instead of hole punch. For me that is not acceptable. I rely on this tip for too many things and am willing to bet a small amount that most SAK knife users would say the same. This would be a stumbling block for me if it weren't easy to fix with a file. I used a diamond file on my Wave, but a small metal file will do. Now I have the necessary punch. The leatherman didn't have any success with this folder, but he pulled off a solid threesome. So for the naysayers among the reviewers, I say ugh and damn it. They are nothing more than disgruntled competitors worried about losing some sales due to this great alternative tool.
