These little caps work really well but are not flexible at room temperature. Follow these steps to be successful. Step 1: Soak the lids in a bowl of HOT water for about 5 minutes (improves the elasticity of the lids). Step 2: Once the lids are flexible (squeeze to check), quickly remove ONE LID AT A TIME from the hot water and immediately place on top of dish rack. Step 3: Repeat this process until all ends are covered. And my dishwasher shelves no longer scratch anything they wash. As the caps come in packs of 200 I have supplied a few friends and family with these caps and THEIR dishwasher baskets work better too. This is an inexpensive way to extend the life of your dish coaster or to cover the ends of other wire coasters you may have around the house. Great solution for my needs.
