Thunderbolt is sketchy; not compatible with some TB3/4 docking stations.

This board runs my Ryzen 9 processor like a stallion. Unfortunately, the main reason I got this MB - built-in Thunderbolt 4 - can be superficial at times. From time to time I plug the TB cable to/from my monitor to get it recognized properly. It doesn't matter if I use the 85W or 15W port on my monitor. Bios and drivers are also updated. However, it gets worse. My attempts to get this board to work with the Razer TB4 Dock Chroma were also unsuccessful. I could just plug all my peripherals directly, but this dock (and many others) has a nice UHS-2 SD card slot that makes 4K video transfer from the camera much faster. You would think this is a simple process - plug the TB cable from the board into the "source" TB connector on the docking station, feed all the peripherals through the docking station, and then feed the TB cable from docking station to monitor, right ? The results were less than stellar. Sometimes I can get the video to work, but NONE of the peripherals are ever recognized by my computer or Razer Synapse. It's also not a dock because when I change the source from my PC to my Razer Book 13 laptop everything works as it should. I suspect there is an issue with the current flow between the docking station and the PC/board that laptops don't have. Anyway, my main purpose of buying this motherboard is not even working. Hopefully the issues can be fixed with driver/bios updates because with so many issues I might spend a few bucks more and get a Taichi x570 board. and a discrete TB card, but who knows if that would have worked.

Pros
  • Computer components
Cons
