Copper kettle NOT copper

I have had this kettle for three years now. Yes it still heats water and I still use it even though I'm looking for a new gooseneck kettle right now. Hopefully the best quality. It's NOT copper. Let's clear that up. Has a copper finish. And that finish will begin to fade or peel over time. The kettle is now covered in stains, especially on the lid where there is almost no copper plating and on the bottom. The statement that it is a COPPER kettle is therefore not correct. It is copper plated stainless steel. It's quite small but enough for pouring coffee into cups, maybe two cups per kettle. This is not a big problem as most kettles of this type are around this size. But I have a 10 cup Chemex carafe and I have to refill it multiple times to fill my carafe. The thermometer seems accurate. This is a good feature. However, you must keep the kettle at least half full for the thermometer to register it. It flows out easily when you pour. Be careful not to tilt the kettle too far or it will leak out of the lid. I tilt the kettle too far and that's why it keeps leaking, but that's probably user error rather than a design flaw. Overall I have mixed feelings about this kettle. I liked it a lot when I first bought it because it was very beautiful. And it served its limited purpose. However, it's no longer pretty enough to keep on the stove. With a few weaknesses, however, it still serves its purpose.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
