I bought this set to give to my three sons. They loved, loved the lighter so much. It's useful, you never know when you'll need it, but when you do need it, you'll be glad you bought it. It is ideal for lighting a fire or cigarette when a conventional lighter is unavailable or when wind/weather conditions render a conventional lighter (or matches) unusable. Best of all, unlike BIC or Zeppo (or similar), they don't require lighter fluid or other flammable liquids. It is ignited by a firing pin, which creates a spark on the rope, and then a burning coal appears at the end of the rope, which can be used to start a fire. This is great for people who like WWII inspired items and survival. Enthusiasts, novelty collectors etc. My son only liked it because it is so different from today's lighters and works very well both with and without wind. I definitely recommend this lighter. I tried every lighter before giving it to my sons. I was happy to see that they work as described. Very cool, very helpful.
