Review on πŸ”₯ Chemtronics Desoldering Braid: Chem-Wik Rosin 10-50L 0.10", 50ft - Efficient Desoldering Solution for Electronics by John Langdon

A good braid is important

I understand that many people have had bad luck desoldering the braid. I have several strands of cheap stuff and I can understand why. It's thin, saturates quickly, and doesn't accept solder well. It's good stuff, I think it's easier than a pump because it actually erases the connection enough to allow the wire to be unscrewed from the connector or pulled out of the through hole. 50 feet may seem like a lot, but if you just learn and solder before you think, or attack old point-to-point wiring that's been flooded with solder, you'll run out before it becomes obsolete. One thing I learned the hard way is to buy a flux pen and soak the marks first. You don't have to do this if you've made a fresh ingot, but good luck getting the really old solder to flow and soak quickly.
