Type of review

I use it literally every day. This is a 50ft roll and it works every time. Be careful because there is another wick from Chemtronics called "Solder Wick" which is basically the same but measures 0.11 inches and costs a little less but is half the length. I've had both and there isn't much of a difference so don't waste your money on them. This is what you are looking for, so don't waste your time, buy it and you're done.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Slightly torn

To lead! best soldering and soldering equipment

I'm glad I chose the Aven or MG brands which were cheaper and paid a bit more. Below are photos. I really want to see pictures before I buy anything, but this one has no public favor with me. But seriously, we, real buyers, not people who received the goods for an honest evaluation or under the guise of a company, should leave reviews and ratings. Let's help other people save money and time. Please boys! We should actively review everything we buy, even if it's just an offer, it helps othersโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • No instructions

A good braid is important

I understand that many people have had bad luck desoldering the braid. I have several strands of cheap stuff and I can understand why. It's thin, saturates quickly, and doesn't accept solder well. It's good stuff, I think it's easier than a pump because it actually erases the connection enough to allow the wire to be unscrewed from the connector or pulled out of the through hole. 50 feet may seem like a lot, but if you just learn and solder before you think, or attack old point-to-point wiringโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • I don't remember

Best wire I've used in over 30 years of soldering

It only made sense to me to buy a 50 foot spool of this Chemtronics desoldering braid as the price per foot made the most sense . This desoldering nozzle is the best I have ever used in over 30 years of soldering. The copper braid is of exceptionally high quality and is woven so FINE that it picks up solder VERY FAST. It looks too pretty to use, but you will use it! I usually cut a piece off the spool, then hold it with pliers to keep my fingers warm, and on old, oxidized solder joints or whenโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Hard to say

I found this wick in the Northridgefix guy's videos. I used a really narcotic wick. It fell apart and spat the solder back into the through hole, holes. It made it worse. I would use a 1 foot or longer wick as it hardly absorbs any solder! It would fall apart! But this chemtronic works very well. A tiny piece of 1cm is enough to suck up all the BGA pads on an iPhone Tristar or Touch IC chip. It picks up lots of solder, doesn't spit it out, has the best flux and more of it than many, and won'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Ultra fine desoldering wick
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Just call him Mr Thirst. Good for hand soldering TSSOP

Works very well for hand soldering TSSOP IC package. I was a little wary of trying to hand solder the tiny 0.65mm TSSOP ICs, especially with my $5 35 watt soldering iron. But I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to make! However, that solder wick was the secret ingredient! The tricky part was aligning the part on the pads, but once you've done that and secured it, just solder all the pins without worrying about shorting the pins. Then use that wick to remove excess and remove solderโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Light weight and pure copper braid construction
Cons
  • I will add later

Shockingly mediocre

I've never used Chem-wik, although I'm a big Chemtronics fan. I decided this would be a really good solder wick based on the reviews and that Chemtronics is a good reliable company. So I bought this huge roll and couldn't wait to use it. flux and waited to be surprised by the absorption power. And it barely worked. It worked as well as the worst wick I've ever used, only slightly better than this one (cheap Chinese brand, copper-plated aluminum). What? How could that happen?! Maybe it doesn'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Less heat minimizes overheating for less time
Cons
  • So far so good
