I ordered this along with a new plug for my DC24 to replace my warning parts. What happens with the brush rod is that it won't fit snugly into the brush motor housing as the cap wears out. The brushed motor housing has 3 triangular shaped parts that fit into one end of the brush rod as it is inserted and a plug on the other end holds the rod firmly in the housing. So my old one was completely chewed up in the shaft due to the cap wearing out and allowing the brush to come out of the body. This new one lasted about a minute. I replaced it with a new end cap and the end cap fits very tight and well. However, the brush length was too short and could be pulled out of the brushed motor housing; and it was immediately removed. I ended up just disassembling the vacuum cleaner nozzle, pulling out the motor and body and JB welded the rod to the brush body as I really needed my vacuum cleaner. It actually worked great as long as you didn't weld it to the back of the case. It hasn't worked out since then. In any case, good luck!
