I liked that this key is cheap. I didn't have to worry about it breaking when cutting the key as it was very cheap. It's just an empty key and an empty plastic base. I needed it because the key on my 2008 RAV4 limited edition key broke. This car is over 10 years old and I didn't want to pay hundreds and wait at the dealer for a new key. My local Ace Hardware cut the key and I checked that it started the car before leaving the hardware store. To do this, insert the new key into the ignition lock and hold the body of the old key with the transponder directly against the ignition lock. After confirming that the new key worked, I was able to turn off the broken key's electronics and transponder using a utility knife and a small flathead screwdriver (jewellery/watch). It only took me 5-10 minutes. This new key works great and feels just as good as the original key.
