This mesh has lines that "wander" from the square. The roll can be rolled almost flat but if you take your measurements and use the grids as a guide to cut your work will not come out and may not come out square. We bought this to make floor boards with a beehive trellis. Using the squares of the grid as the cutting guide, the resulting screen was more trapezoidal than the measured rectangle. Luckily we cut the piece a little more, but the end result would have looked a lot better had a better quality product been used. We would have returned it if we hadn't already cut a 2'X3' section off the roll. Probably good for soffit ventilation or some shielding where precision and aligned grid squares are not important. Not recommended, will not buy again
