Won't work alone

These heavy duty mounts are very easy to install and are great for transporting anything or for light applications but I had to install a 200lb (dry weight) generator on I have 5000 watts on my bumper and these guys could never have done it on their own. You can now buy an optional bracket pack (for almost the same price as the arms themselves), but they only reinforce the arms on the bumper itself, so I didn't fall for that. Once the levers are set to the correct spacing for your use, the real problem is that they are on the end where they have a lot of play left and right that no one would ever think of pointing their $800 alternator at it put . So here's what I did. I bought three 90 degree steel angle arms for a total of $15 and a pressure treated 2x4x8 footboard for another $3, then I cut one of those angle arms to fit between the arms on the inside end of the bumper. and bolted them on, then pulled out the 2 long bolts at the end of the bumper one at a time and placed the 24" uncut elbow arm on top of the bumper, square up, although you could have done it anyway and bolted the final elbow arm through to the End of the arms bent upwards and this time it is important. The play at the ends of the levers has been significantly reduced, but not completely eliminated, but that doesn't matter at this point. If you're installing small square slide rulers, ignore the instructions that tell you to attach them one notch to the bumper, use a three notch surface to at least tip most of the weight back onto the bumper. Install the generator all the way up to the levers and the bumper, which has a little over 3 inches of the lever sticking out at the end. I cut two 24" pieces from the 2" x 4" board, place one all the way in the corner, hammer the other behind firmly against the alternator frame, and fully seat the 1 1/2" screws . Corner for attaching boards to irons and to each other. The resulting setup is rock solid without any hesitation. When towing my 5th wheel I attach 1 or 2 reinforced ratchet straps just in case, but this thing isn't going anywhere. Reinforcing the bumper yourself with an add-on kit is not only expensive but also useless since your bumper is a 4"x4" square steel tube welded to the I-beams that run the length of the bus. What's the point other than profit? Nothing. Look at the photos and don't forget 3-4 notches, not 1.
