I hesitated for a long time about buying one of these and finally decided to try them. Cupcake is very nervous in the car and is usually on my or my husband's lap or buckled in (you can see him sitting in the seat in some photos); The seat belt is designed for the highest level of impact protection, but it's TERRIBLE. This seems safe but note: IMPORTANT: Make sure your dog is on the shortest length of the buckle that will be hooked onto the collar as it is long enough for him to jump out and HANG. Solution 1) Never attach it to the harness and not the collar itself. 2) Make sure the adjustment doesn't allow them to protrude past the top of the box. - my husband didn't know this and loosened her belt thinking it would give her more freedom but as soon as we moved she tried to jump out but luckily my niece was sitting next to her and we caught her right away! When the limit was reached, the problem was solved and we are very happy about that. She usually cries non-stop in the car even when she is on our lap but that way she can see outside and although she would rather be with us the crying drives us crazy and it seems soothing and at the same time the main thing is that she is safe.
