I'm concerned about the accuracy.

I received this item today and tested all my family members and we all had temperatures of 96-97 degrees Fahrenheit even though my temporal (physical forehead touch scanner) thermometer was 98-99 degrees Fahrenheit indicated. Do these devices need to be calibrated? Am I defective or are they that low?
