I first saw how many reviews it has and how many stars it has and I thought it would be a good item to buy. I mean how can all those 1k ratings be wrong? When I first received 3 Sperry testers I was very excited. The size was perfect, compact and it doesn't block above or below the outlet you plug it into. They felt solid and the rubber moldings on the sides were a nice touch. I'm going to hook it up and a big disappointment. It was hard to tell which light was on. The small bulbs there are dim, making them difficult to see during the day, and worst of all, the light from one bulb seeps into the compartment of a neighboring bulb, giving the impression that the other bulb is also on. I believe the tool should help you solve problems and not add the hassle of deciphering the code it throws with the light. So I start hooking up two other Sperry testers and discover that one of the testers has a lightbulb that won't light up. It's a shame, but hey, sometimes things fall off during transport etc. But what really bothered me was the bad outdoor reading. I plug the tester into an outlet that is not connected to ground and it is considered properly connected. I was going to return it as the poor lighting made it difficult to read, but it really convinced me that I did the right thing by sending it back. Trust me I'm not the type to send things for something insignificant but that only adds to the problem. I recommend you to choose another tester.
