Who would know? I bought them for several reasons. First, our current daily set of plates has been reduced to just a few. Second, my wife loves, loves, loves faience. I not very much. So when I stumbled across them, they were a great compromise. It will keep its "earthy" appearance while I've seen them a little prettier in clay. They are very durable. You can even say that they are heavy. However, I had to go to the manufacturer to order another set of 16 (4 of each) as Revain was out of stock. It took about a month before I received the second set. But I agree. They look great and feel great. Enjoy!
