Who would know? I bought them for several reasons. First, our current daily set of plates has been reduced to just a few. Second, my wife loves, loves, loves faience. I not very much. So when I stumbled across them, they were a great compromise. It will keep its "earthy" appearance while I've seen them a little prettier in clay. They are very durable. You can even say that they are heavy. However, I had to go to the manufacturer to order another set of 16 (4 of each) as Revain was out of stock.

I purchased an Alexandria dinnerware set from Gourmet Basics online through Revain as a gift for a friend. I've spent many hours looking for a new dinnerware that looks nice and is comfortable for everyday use. I wasn't looking for fine dinnerware for a special occasion. I like the look of this set but I have a few requirements. They must be suitable for microwave use (this is not the type of plate that gets very hot when removed from the microwave). You are perfect.
