This Black & Decker remote control is perfect for the Christmas tree. This allows me to turn on the Christmas tree without having to stand by the tree to flick a footswitch or plug it into an outlet. He's worked great for me this season. I expect it will last for many years if I remove the battery. This discourages curious toddlers from hiding behind a tree to turn on the light. If you have multiple items like the Christmas Village and the tree, I found that Black & Decker also makes this remote in other versions to adapt to multiple items with a single remote. Instead of taking out the battery after Christmas and storing the remote control, I can find permanent uses for it, like a frequently used lamp.
