Review on Smart Wi Fi Water Sensor Detector Safety & Security by Carlito Tardy

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not ready for prime time.

The product description refers to something that doesn't exist yet. Support informed me that the phone app is under development. I bought this item to monitor the area around the water heater. The hardware works fine. Wet the sensor and the device will beep. Receiving remote notifications is a different story. Other reviews contain claims that are simply not true. If you look at the technical details of the product information, you can see a good example of misinformation. Example: BATTERIES > Requires 3 Li-Ion batteries, BATTERIES REQUIRED > No, BATTERIES INCLUDED > No, BATTERY TYPE > Lithium-Ion. In truth, the device requires 1 lithium-ion battery (type CR2 or similar) and this battery is included and built into the device. The insulator must be removed from the battery holder in order to work. Many reviewers have complained that the device won't stay connected to Wi-Fi. I believe that after a short period of activity, the device turns off the WiFi radio to save power. When an alarm occurs, the WiFi radio turns back on and quickly connects to the network. This assumes that the WiFi credentials have not changed since the last connection. Setting up WiFi was very easy for me. When I first received and set up this device, I found that if I wet the sensor I would get a notification on the phone. Then there was an app update. Now I don't get notifications anymore. The sharing, email and battery status features do not work in the app yet. I am very disappointed in this product and cannot recommend it to anyone at this time. Update: I've added a partial product detail picture taken today, 2 months after my original review. You can see that nothing has changed.
