Any good motorcyclist knows that anti-theft protection is about buying time. No system will stand in the way of a determined thief, but as drivers we can do our best to make his job as onerous as possible. We want to confuse them in as many ways as possible so hopefully they'll move on to the next easier-to-steal bike. It's the old lore that you don't have to be faster than a bear, just one step ahead of your next potential prey. To me, that means two things: redundancy and confusion. All of my security devices meet the requirements for easy installation and regular use, but at the same time are so complex that most people don't want to bother with them. So I use multiple disc locks as well as anchor and U-locks when possible. But that leads to the fact that one should always remember to take them all off again before a trip. No one wants to end up with a driving lock-on YouTube driving instruction video. While I love the BigPantha as a layer of protection in its own right β it's durable, well-made, easy to use, and absolutely beautiful β I think it's best used as a glorified reminder of ME, the cyclist, to keep me from starting and start with places until i'm sure i'm ready to go. Something like a self-induced breath test before I hand over the car keys. I can't hope for a ride until I let go of the brake and gas! Okay, since Pantha is bright and red and in my control plane face, I can't miss it, can I? And unlike the bright yellow or orange wire, I have to first take out my set of keys to turn it off. My tip is that the disk locks should also come loose. For me simply ingenious and reason enough to use it on every ride. This is an elegant piece of kit that goes one step further in reminding a wannabe jerk to stay out of my ride. But it also tells me to stop and look at the other locks I've installed on the drives. As far as I know, this is no less important. I will most likely use/listen to cables from time to time. But Pantha is too good not to use every time. And I know I won't miss it! Plus, it's another device you don't see every day, another added nuisance for would-be thieves who are wasting their time when they could be aiming for a much easier-to-steal bike. Together, these make BigPantha an essential tool in my anti-theft toolbox. I highly recommend it!
