This block will be ribbed when screwed to the wall. In my application there is a wooden beam above it, in which I drilled a few screw holes. Once the top was attached to the beam with a few screws, it was VERY ribbed. I think I could frame an elephant on him. One of the corners of the front support was damaged. I think this was done upon delivery as the inner shipping box was punctured but the Amazon outer box was not. I was able to bend it back into shape with pliers.
