Review on X BULL Waterproof Synthetic Winch 13000 Capacity by Charles Mathews

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very bad customer support. Yes, I know it's made in China, but it's a design flaw

Update 01/20/20: Xbull sent me a guide on how to install overload protection, aka "Refresh ' given that they sent me. They didn't provide any gear and when I asked they said "buy the gear yourself." WOW. Now I will 100% return this winch and buy it from a more reputable company. Update 01/16/20: Two product launches are now 1 star. There is still no explanation why the brackets do not fit. Also, the line hook does not fit into the line loop and does not move freely, instead snagging which can become a permanent hook under stress. Xbull sent me an "upgraded" winch. It's exactly the same, but they've included the overload protection pictured here with no explanation of how to set it up. Your customer support is very bad. They communicate only via email and do what is necessary to "answer" your question. It usually takes 3-4 emails to answer a single question because they respond with one sentence or less and don't take the time to provide additional explanations. I will most likely be returning this winch as I am still within the return window and will be buying from a more reputable company. I wanted to like this winch but its lack of support is too annoying. UPDATE 01/03/20: I downgraded it from 3 stars to 2 stars. They sent replacement clips but they are completely the wrong shape, see photo. Xbull doesn't have a support number to contact, only an email, which can be frustrating when troubleshooting. I've had this winch for a month now but I can't use it. I've removed and reinstalled my bumper too many times to count. I will be returning this for a refund and will purchase the winch from another company that stands behind their products and offers better support. The supplied brackets for attaching the control module to the top of the winch are useless. Even after the set screws are fully tightened, they barely hold the device in place, allowing it to slide and rattle left and right. When trying to bend the bracket tighter, it broke. The set screws also scratch the powder coating, I paid extra for the orange paint which is now scratched.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • No guide
