This belt's lifespan is about average and affordable, but it's poorly constructed. To add a little snazzy/stylish to the belt, they built the latch into the buckle itself, which means it sits very close to the prong. To insert the strap into the retainer, the child must be skilled enough to slide the hard faux leather into the retainer, essentially folding the strap in half. On most children's belts, the buckle is integrated into the strap, away from the prong, rather than as part of the buckle. I totally understand that they make this belt stylish but it's bad enough that my 9 year old spends quite a bit of time putting the belt on every time and for that reason I'm getting rid of this belt.
