Most beans were paper based, not wet dry
The coarser beans in my bag were not wet dry. Plain old paper backing that quickly soaked up water causing the sand to bubble and separate from the glue holding it in place. It wasn't dipping work just accidental dipping and the paper fell apart before the abrasive wore out and I was working with high carbon steel which is HARD to sharpen.
