Don't buy this chisel

unless you want to spend hours preparing one for use. Okay, I read the reviews on these parts before I bought them and I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. However, I didn't realize how much work they would need before they arrived. These notches are made in China and are of extremely poor quality. They come beveled on the inner radius and are really useless out of the box. I spent several hours regrinding the outside bevel of all four, honing only the largest of them, and spent at least 4-5 hours total preparing just one recess for use. The gouge itself is very thick, and the smallest gouge - 1/4 inch - almost reached the tip of the pencil after the bevel was sanded from the outside. The thickness of the steel is about 3/16" at the tip, and I think the size listed is based on the outside diameter of the notch. do not sharpen the inside radius leaving fine lines from the 220 grit sandpaper I used to clean the inside burr). To me I see this as a very temporary set that will need to be replaced within a year.
