One can easily spend 30 minutes to an hour with a simple chisel.

You really do get what you paid for with this product. Incredibly rough edges and poorly beveled threads. If you don't have the tools to flatten and sharpen these chisels to your liking, then it's not worth your time. One can easily spend 30 minutes to an hour with a chisel to get this product up and running. It's better to spend a few more dollars than waste your time.

Check out Harbor Freright and you won't be disappointed.

Mostly INCANNEL bits, made (I think) by the same company that makes Harbor Freight bits. Are they anywhere near the best out there? No way. Considering how HARD the Incanel notches are to find, I would definitely recommend buying them if you need them. They are quite good and inexpensive. It is unlikely that most woodworkers will ever need an incannel, and it can take a long time to use. So why spend a lot of money on something you will probably never use.

Tools will dull over time and require sharpening

Good value for money. Don't expect anything supernatural at this price point. Many other customers have complained about the need to sharpen tools before use, but if you're interested in woodworking or just starting out, sharpening will become second nature to you. Tools become dull over time and need to be sharpened. So look at it the other way around, you will get a lot of practice in developing the skills you will use throughout your woodworking career by purchasing these tools. Enjoy the…

The makings of some decent notches

Like many other reviews, these are a bit crude. But with a little effort, they can be pretty good. I only have one notch and don't use it very often, but I decided to take a chance. You could call it a "set". All the basic ingredients are there, but they require LOTS of work. I'm a locksmith by trade so converting them into useful tools won't be a big deal. The steel tests about 50 Rockwell with my Tsubosan hardness test files. I have a diamond tipped durometer but I haven't gotten it set up or

The bevel is sharpened from the wrong side

Before buying I read reviews about poor quality but didn't really expect the bevel to be sharpened on the wrong side. I was expecting to regrind the corner, smooth and sharpen the surface, but not change the bevel to the other side. These hacks should be considered for educational purposes only, knowing you have nothing to lose. As mentioned in other reviews, the wrong angle, dull, deep scratches that need sharpening are all true. Do not buy them as a beginner unless your goal is to learn how…

Garbage, avoid at all costs.

I rarely write reviews but this time I felt I had to. At this price, I was fully expecting the blades to be unusable out of the box and I would have to correct their crooked geometry, as can be seen here in the seller's own photos. Also, after getting enough sharp bevels and a mirror finish (not for the first time), I found that this steel just won't hold an edge, even on soft woods. So much for "harder notch", "hardened (sic) tungsten steel" and "high hardness" - these are all lies. Either…

Don't buy this chisel

unless you want to spend hours preparing one for use. Okay, I read the reviews on these parts before I bought them and I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. However, I didn't realize how much work they would need before they arrived. These notches are made in China and are of extremely poor quality. They come beveled on the inner radius and are really useless out of the box. I spent several hours regrinding the outside bevel of all four, honing only the largest of them, and spent at…

Pretty decent tool under the rough exterior

My kit says it was made in China but the writing on the box appears to be in Russian. However, four notches of this size at this price and quality isn't necessarily a bad deal. They are roughly cut and require a lot of work to get into a usable shape. If you don't have the skills, tools, and experience to literally finish processing them, then don't bother. The inside of the kerfs is terribly rough and requires power tools to get the mirror-smooth finish that the cutter needs. I used a hardwood
