I've had dryer balls for a little over a year. They dried clothes well but after about 4 months of use I stopped using them because they started to smell. It smelled, well, of wool. The smell seemed to get stronger over the weeks. In the end I couldn't take it and stopped using them. I know they say you can add fragrance oil to make your clothes smell better, but I'm allergic to fragrances so this didn't work for me. I let them air dry completely between loads, so I don't think that was a problem. I also felt that they ruined my clothes, especially my towels. They became hard and prickly. As if the bullets had knocked all the fluff out of them. On the other hand, my dog got one of these and she loves it. Now she has several of these and they have become her favorite toy. Since she rips everything else and these seem unbreakable I will be ordering more for her. I think she thinks they are small animals. I would never have thought of giving her balls of yarn as toys, but they are wonderful.
