Have been using it for a few weeks with no problems Actually a joy to just squirt boiling wort on it and know where my beer is compared to forcing the sample to cool or Seek temporary compensation. Can also be used to check gravity and alcohol calculations with a hygrometer if you forgot to take OG or FG. Several websites and beer software packages do the calculations. Have wanted one of these for years but never got enough to spend a few hundred bucks - great to get one for under $50 that seems well built and accurate. Most Brewery Club members use one of these, which are from different brands but all made in the same factory. So why not 5 stars? Maybe it's stupid of me, but big white letters in clumsy writing on the case: PORTABLE REFRACTOMETER It just smells like cheap China imports.
