They really filter and allow you to drink city water without contaminants.
Buy a replacement filter for the first time. Recommended once a year for a family of 4 or earlier. Since I've been single I haven't changed in almost 2 full years. They are really easy to swap out and do a great job of filtering water. The original plumbing was professionally installed by a plumber for about $200, well worth the cost of filtered water straight from the faucet. After buying it I saw that they now have one that also filters limescale, twice the price but I'll give that a try next time as it would be perfect for my city water with a strong bad taste.
