Buy a replacement filter for the first time. Recommended once a year for a family of 4 or earlier. Since I've been single I haven't changed in almost 2 full years. They are really easy to swap out and do a great job of filtering water. The original plumbing was professionally installed by a plumber for about $200, well worth the cost of filtered water straight from the faucet.
