I contacted the seller and he replied that the unit was probably damaged in transit and needs to be returned and a new one ordered. And he did. Air purifier #2 still works great. Noise Level: Definitely much quieter than unit #1. Really quiet in sleep mode. I fall asleep easily with it. Sleep mode: amazing! Such a calm and subdued light is great for soft nocturnal illumination of the eyes. It's also possible to turn off the light bar completely in sleep mode, but still get a slight blue glow from the illuminated button. Timer mode: Handy when you've smoked or cooked in the room and just want to get away when you run to clean the air. a while while you go. You can set the sleep mode to timer mode, but it would help to set the timer first before turning off the light, otherwise you won't see which time setting is lit. Air Quality Indicator: Really Works! It starts at high speed first while checking the air, and then if it stays blue or turns blue then the air is fine and the fan speed is reduced (you can also change the fan speed yourself). Running out of the box first, the light turned red as he started gasping for air. It quickly turned yellow, then blue. A little later I shook out the blanket next to the device and it turned yellow and the fan speed increased for a few minutes! I'm pretty sure there must have been a small amount of dust, dandruff or something in my ceiling and the cleaner picked it up. Aromatherapy Bonus: I appreciate that it can diffuse essential oils too. I like to use lavender oil in sleep mode. This includes an additional box with an aroma diffuser, as well as the one already in the car. I would like another one. The directions say not to mix scents, so I guess I'm forever stuck with lavender in the same diffuser box and whatever I choose for the extra diffuser. Somehow have to find more if I want more flavor options. 5 stars because it was only advertised. Things I would like could be different: - another box of essential oils - the ability to turn off the air quality indicator light bar without it going to sleep and reset the fan speed
