Works but be patient when setting up

So far so good. There were some connection issues so please be patient. I have experience in IT, but it took a while, maybe in my specific environment. WPS seemed to work at first but red for the connection even though I was 24 inches from the router! Then I used the setup wizard, worked fine but no 2.4G or 5G connection (no lights) but all other lights are blue but stayed red again when right next to the router. Then I read that for 5G it's best if your router broadcasts wifi on channel 149-161. I have never contacted my router as it is Comcast and not the one I bought myself. I found the ID and password anyway, changed the channel. It seemed like a bit of a waste of time because after connecting 5G on the repeater, I decided to connect to channel 48 even though the router was broadcasting on 149. BUT when I finally just moved the extender to the top right of the dead center it finally worked! Again, be patient (unlike me) because it took 2.4G and then 5G to connect, probably around 20 minutes. Using the Netgear dashboard is very handy to see the progress. Seems to extend the signal well without half a drop like others, in fact my signal is running at around 110m/s at the router and 114m/s at the expander. This replaces a $69 Netgear extender that slowed by 1/2 and also had problems with the router signal dropping about 2-3 times a day. So far. 48 hours later everything is blue light! I think my problem when starting the setup is that I have too much metal and other equipment in the office/gym in my house where the router is located.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
