This was the first time we used these belts. After placing the Prius on the wagon and tightening the seat belts, I asked my wife to drive a short distance while she applied the brakes to work out any "kinks" in the setup. It looked good. After about 20-30 miles on the freeway, I suggested my wife check it again. BOTH BELTS WERE OFF THE WHEEL! We used to use the single hook straps that came with the cart, but I felt the double hook straps would be more secure. My guess is that the belts need to be "broken in" to eliminate any slack between the fibers by checking them several times at the beginning. They are well made and of fair value and we will continue to use them in the future. For now (first ride with these straps) I would buy them again but would like to know if they loosen on first use. Addendum: Well we're still on the same journey and BOTH STRAPS ARE OFF AGAIN! This time a pleasant ringing in the passenger door from a hook bouncing on the concrete. We put the driver's seat belt back on but used our old passenger seat belt. When I stopped after 15 minutes, the old strap didn't need to be tightened at all, and the new strap was loose (although it didn't fall off). It would be crazy to entrust your multi-thousandth car to seat belts showing this symptom! At the very least, there should be a giant piece of red paper warning of this "stretch" possibility.
